Un-Reality

We're so caught up with our lives online, sometimes we tend to forget that we have to live out the ones we've got going outside and away from the Internet. Don't get me wrong, I'm a geek when it comes to the net. The WWW Queen if you may. But I quit Facebook in December. for many reasons. And I find that I have so much more going on that I never gave enough importance. Things that were REALLY happening and not just popping up in red notifications on the side of my screen. For people who are constantly on Facebook, it doesn't seem to be the least bit weird when you call them addicted or just downright psycho. I would know. Been there, done that. People on the outside, people who see you everyday, they know. This is one little situation you have no clue about, even though it involves you.

I feel liberated. Regardless of how Sage-ish that sounds, I really do feel like I've got a whole lot going on and not just my Facebook account. Why am I talking only about Facebook? That was pretty much the only social media website I used, it's the most common among people of all ages, and the cause of the abundance of laziness, cockyness and first class creeps on this planet.

I may get back on eventually. It is fun. But now I know I can live without chatting to people, commenting on the most random shit and living an offline life.

To further complement the above view, here's 16 reasons I found that staying off Facebook helps you get where you want and by 'where' I don't mean to your friend's wall.

16 REASONS YOU SHOULD SPEND LESS TIME ON FACEBOOK:
                                                                   APR. 5, 2013

1.       Because you’re procrastinating doing work that is relevant to your life.
2.      Because you don’t actually care about 75% of the people on your Facebook.
3.      Because rants are annoying and a day can’t go past without someone ranting on there.
4.      Because you don’t need to know what is going on in that many people’s lives.
5.      Because you don’t need that many people knowing what is going on in your life.
6.      Because a lot of people are faking it.
7.      Because 85% of it is useless information that you will soon forget.
8.     Because you’re comparing your life to what your friends depict their life as.
9.      Because photos of sonograms and daily baby bumps do not enrich your life in anyway.
10.  Because relationship statuses or a lack thereof do not tell you anything about the relationship status. (Think about it.)
11.   Because your ego is way too tied to your Facebook interactions.
12.  Because you’ll give less of a shit what people think and there is a lot of freedom in that.
13.  Because you’ll spend more time and effort cultivating and maintaining real relationships.
14.  Because you want to like people and have faith in humanity.
15.   Because wouldn’t you rather be living your life than posting about it?
16.  Because Facebook is not real life.

Think about it!

Cheers!
