The 'lingo' today is positively astounding. No really, it amazes me the extent to which we've become SO lazy that we don't even have the time to talk or message like civilized human beings. Yes I get the whole, "it's faster, it's easier, it's shorter". BUT is it REALLY NECESSARY TO MAKE THE WORD 'SEE' SHORTER? =O Any more shortening of words and we might as well all just sign language to each other. I know the basics of sign language but I'm pretty sure there's short forms woven in there somewhere too. I don't know why, but I just felt the need to write about it. I see people doing it everyday. Some have even gone to the extent of SAYING 'lol' while they're talking. OH EM GEE.

Maybe it's because I'm a qualified and trained English teacher and I find short forms to be something like cheating on the language. But sometimes it's just bloody ridiculous. I don't see the point! Here's a few words that I can't stand when they are shortened:

BRB - what? you can't say I'll be back? It'll take you 2 seconds more.
 OMG
C for 'see' - =|
de for 'the' - oh COME ON
u for 'you'
luv for 'love'
4 4 four ( see see? that four is in the wrong place! FOR people. )
LMAO, ROFLMAO and all it's other variations - These are funny no doubt, but not when it's used ALL THE TIME.
the word irritate someone managed to right irrt8. why. why would you do that.

GF/BF, L8R, MSG, OIC, IDK, FYI, BTW, WRU, U2( in my world, that's a band=|), ur, SUP,RUOK, TYT, PLZ.

Do you see what I'm getting at here? We're all going to forget the English language very VERY soon if this keeps going =P

But of ALL the shortened words and abrreviations, you know what irritates me that most?

MA. FOR MY. WHAT. THE. HELL. You don't sound gangsta, you sound stupid when you say that! Ma dog, ma ass, ma homies. =/ *shakes head*

That and SUP. what is that. SUP. Again, Sometimes I do say 'Suuuuuuuuuuup' but only when I'm really bored. What's up? Appropriate. Sup? Just sounds like an Armadillo burped out his breakfast.

The only short form I do use is 'coz', because because is just too long =P heh. Even that I use sparingly.  My point being, if you're that lazy to type out full messages, then just call the person subject to such trauma and grace them with your voice! Spare the alphabets man! And the extra work of '21st century language of lameass' translation.
